The UF Quest Requirement

ABOUT UF QUEST

All undergraduate students are required to take UF Quest courses except if they have an A.A. from a Florida public college/state university or are in the Innovation Academy program.

Quest courses ask students to consider why the world is the way it is and what they can do about the problems confronting society. Foregoing traditional instruction and standardized tests in favor of close reading, critical thinking, and effective communication of ideas, UF Quest promotes a high level of faculty engagement in undergraduate education and gives students the opportunity to choose courses that are meaningful to them

THE UF QUEST 1 REQUIREMENT

Students who enter UF in or after Summer B 2020 are required to take one UF Quest 1 course.

THE UF QUEST 2 REQUIREMENT

Students who enter UF in or after Summer B 2021 are, in addition, required to take one UF Quest 2 course.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

  • A minimum grade of C is required for Quest and general education credit.
  • Courses intended to satisfy Quest and general education requirements cannot be taken S-U.
  • Students must complete a UF Quest 1 course with a minimum grade of C before taking a UF Quest 2 course.
  • Some UF Quest courses may also fulfill the International (N) requirement and/or count toward the Writing requirement.

THE UF CORE REQUIREMENT

Students who entered UF before Summer B 2020 are required to complete the UF Core (aka "Good Life") requirement except if they have an A.A. degree from a Florida public college/state university or are in the Innovation Academy program. Students may substitute any UF Quest 1 course for IDS 1161 ("What is the Good Life?) to fulfill the UF Core requirement.

FINDING UF QUEST COURSES

A note is provided in the Schedule of Courses for each UF Quest 1 and UF Quest 2 course so you can easily distinguish them. In One.UF, you can also search for UF Quest courses by selecting either Quest 1 or Quest 2 in the search filter and then clicking the search button.
